April showers bring May flowers...and events! It is time to get out and enjoy time with the family this month, and we've got you covered. Enjoy this month's events and activities blog for fun family-friendly activities.

May 4: The Greatest Showman Outdoor Screening @ Community First Cinema

Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at our Community First! Village.
Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends and enjoy this special screening of the Greatest Showman.

Come as early as 7:30 pm to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards and cash accepted!).

The event is free, however, a $5 donation would be highly appreciated. Donations can be made electronically when RSVPing to this event.

May 5: Kindnesspalooza @ Hill Country Galleria

Saturday, May 5th from 12:00pm - 4:00pm

KINDNESSPALOOZA, a free family-friendly event, will be held in the Central Plaza by the Splash Pad on Saturday, May 5th from 12:00 - 4:00 pm. The Mrs band, an all-female pop rock band with a positive message, will be headlining the event. Teen music sensation Madison McWilliams is also performing along with other musical guests, including SaulPaul, Big Don and Courtney Santana.

In addition, to live music and performances, there will also be an appearance from the Enoughie Buddy mascot, the Art of Kindness photo booth, Magic Mirror and other family-friendly activities including the splash pad!

KINDNESSPALOOZA supports The Kindness Campaign, a non-profit foundation which supports the anti-bullying curriculum in schools.

May 6: H-E-B First Sunday @ Bullock Museum

Explore the connection between Texas history and math through hands-on activities, creative projects, storytime, and engaging demonstrations

Families can explore the Story of Texas through three floors of exhibitions that showcase artifacts from around the state. Special family programs from 12-3 p.m. combine art creation, exploration stations, and gallery activities. (Free Admission 12PM-5PM)

May 10: Free Movies in the Park: Emperor’s New Groove @ Dick Nichol’s Park

Movies in the Park is a series of free films brought to you by Austin Parks Foundation in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse. We'll be visiting ten different parks this year, so head out to grab some food from our food trucks and enjoy a night under the stars and in front of the screen. 8:00pm - 10:00pm 

May 11: Round Rock Express Star Wars Night @ Dell Diamond

The Round Rock Express continues to dedicate itself to promoting America's national pastime in a safe, fun, friendly and exciting atmosphere that allows fans and players alike to enjoy the game.

The Round Rock Express is a class Triple-A Pacific Coast League minor league baseball team in Round Rock, Texas. Star Wars Night | The Force returns to Dell Diamond on Friday, May 11.

May 12: Touch-a-Truck @ Camp Mabry

Touch-A-Truck is a fun-filled event for families to bond as their children explore the vehicles they've seen in movies, books and just about driving around town. From firetrucks, ambulances to backhoes and bulldozers, Touch-A-Truck has them all!

In addition to vehicle zones, the year's event will feature a kid zone with a petting zoo, face-painting, barrel train rides, and much, much more. General Admission is $5, VIP Admission is $25, including early entrance. 

May 12: Do512 Day Crawfish Boil @ Moontower Saloon

First 50 plates are FREE! Karbach drink specials all night, $5 Plates of Crawfish.

May 13: Mother’s Day Concert @ Texas State Capitol

Join the Austin Symphonic Band to celebrate Mom with a concert in her honor at the Texas State Capitol. The band will perform a selection of festive tunes with a Cajun flair, including works by Frank Ticheli and John Philip Sousa. Bring a blanket and enjoy a free concert for the whole family on the beautiful South Capitol Steps. (FREE)

May 19: 2nd Annual Festival of Good @ Goodnight Ranch

Goodnight Ranch's second annual Festival of Good, a block party-style event celebrating all the “good” things in Austin, will be held on Saturday, May 19th from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

Taking place within, Goodnight, the southeast Austin residential community off Slaughter Lane, the family-friendly event is free and open to the public and will feature 24 local vendors - offering everything from handmade leather goods to apothecary products to purchase, to dog adoptions and face painting. Attendees can also enjoy local food trucks, play yard games and listen to live music - all manifesting the live, work, play aspects of the Goodnight community.

May 23: Blues on the Green @ Zilker Park

Austin's favorite summer tradition is back. 93.3 KGSR's Blues on the Green invites music lovers out to Zilker Park to enjoy a family and pet friendly night of homegrown music in a relaxed atmosphere. Grab your family, friends, dogs, and blankets, and join us for Austin's largest FREE concert series.
